Wisden overview

Ehsanul Haque made his debut in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2002, after impressing in Bangladesh's domestic competition with 719 runs in 13 matches. He was selected for Bangladesh A in the Malaysia Cricket Challenge Tournament in May 2002, and full recognition was not far behind. His Test baptism, however, was a tough one: he survived a vehement lbw shout first ball, and was clattered on the helmet in the same over. Andrew Miller
