126.3 to Ponting, Ponting's superb innings ends. He shuffled across his stumps looking to work to leg and was struck in front by Hoggard. A vociferous and pleading appeal was answered - finally - by Steve Bucknor and Ponting reluctantly turned and headed off, but not before he had aimed a massive swipe at the turf on his way back to the pavilion 467/5

126.6 to Gilchrist, strewth ... it's a collapse! Gilchrist played down the wrong line to a ball angled into him - a sniff of swing as well - and another raucous appeal as it hit him on the front foot. It was in line and hitting leg, and Bucknor positively raced into the decision (well, it only took about five seconds) 467/6

141.3 to Clarke, Wicket! Anderson deserved that. Clarke looks to drive but it's a bit too far from him and a thick edge flies at regulation height to Strauss at second slip. 528/8

18.3 to Hayden, a good line and length from Flintoff and Hayden is caught fishing on the front foot; he's squared up a treat and a thick edge flies straight to Collingwood at second slip. England have the breakthrough at last and Hayden departs after an erstwhile-supportive innings 79/1

28.5 to Langer, at last one goes to hand and again it's Flintoff who makes the breakthrough. Langer slashes at a wide one but the ball is steered straight into the midriff of Pieterson at point. A fine innings from Langer, but one must wonder why he was quite so gung-ho after the break 141/2

108.4 to Hussey, bowled through the gate as Hussey attempts a forward defensive and that's a brilliant ball from Flintoff as the timber goes flying. A good tactic from the England captain, too, coming round the wicket - Hussey had been leaving the ball all morning as the ball angled across him and this one made him play... although ultimately he missed. Again it's that man Flintoff who has broken the deadlock and that's three wickets for him 407/4

149.1 to Clark, gottim. The straight yorker did the job and the timber goes flying... but Clark walks off to a rousing reception from the crowd for his entertaining, and useful, knock 578/9

47.2 to Martyn, goddim! A late-cut from Martyn - who has played that shot perfectly all day until now -to a ball which turned just enough -- straight into the hands of Paul Collingwood at first slip. Well, that's a massive breakthrough for England - and unexpected, too, as Martyn was looking in sublime touch. 198/3

28.3 to Flintoff, On a length and Flintoff pushes at it and an oh-so-audible outside edge to Gilchrist who takes an oh-so-regulation catch. A great ball at 146.5kph ... he had to play at it. Replays, however, show that it was a no-ball ...oops 79/5

5.4 to Strauss, what a catch, that's a fine catch by Michael Hussey as Strauss pulls McGrath, a skier, to deep midwicket...Lee and Hussey converged, both eyeing the ball and Hussey crashed into Lee, stamping his spikes on Lee's legs, but kept his eye on the ball. Very well caught indeed, but Lee's in trouble here 28/1

5.5 to Cook, GONE! Around the wicket to Cook who nibbles at this, the ball just moving away from him and it's edged straight to Warne at first slip. What a start for Australia! 28/2

27.4 to Pietersen, Out! A misjudgment of Gattingesque proportions from Pietersen. On a length, the ball jagged back, he had already decided to shoulder arms and the ball smacked into his back leg. It looked out before the appeal had even reached the "zat" stage and Billy Bowden agreed. Hawkeye says it was missing off stump ... certainly didn't look like it 78/4

49.2 to Jones, trapped on the crease to a full, inswinging delivery, Jones looks down at his feet as if he knows his fate but Billy Bowden is taking his time here....McGrath pleads for his wicket and eventually the crooked finger is raised. McGrath has four! It's all going Pete Tong for England 126/6

59.2 to Harmison, McGrath has a five-for. Slightly short, seamed back in to Harmison and he played an odd shot as the ball brushed the face of the bat and straight to Gilchrist. The appeal was half-hearted but Bowden's bent finger was raised and there was not much doubt there. Safe to say that Harmison not in the reckoning for the Man of the Match ... 154/9

61.1 to Giles, Horrible shot, but what option did he have? Giles took two steps to leg and aimed a swipe at it ... the ball came off the toe-end of the bat and went high to Hayden deep cover where took a decent catch over his shoulder. McGrath was immediately mobbed by his colleagues and he emerged, grinning, holding the ball aloft 157/10

10.6 to Collingwood, and there's the third wicket, Clark's worked him over and deserves that one. Angling into Collingwood before cutting away, Collingwood fails to move his feet and, wrongly trying to work it to leg, gets an audible outside edge and off he goes 42/3

56.2 to Bell, superb from Ponting and a massive breakthrough for Australia. A superb ball from Clark, angling into Bell who drives, on the up, edging it to Ponting at second slip who drops down on his right knee, bringing his hands up close to his face to take a fine catch. 149/7

58.2 to Hoggard, drinks did the trick! Short of a length on off stump, Hoggard didn't get over it and the edge flew to the right of Giclchrist who held a decent one-handed catch about 18 inches off the ground. 153/8

80.4 to Pietersen, oh! and he's gone - flicking impulsively at Martyn in a very short midwicket. The new ball has done the trick for Australia, and that's just the start that they wanted, with the big wicket of Pietersen. Click here for the picture 293/6

87.1 to Jones, that one kept low and Jones, trying to play freely on the off-side, gets a bottom edge which crashes back on to his stumps. A good line and it's all smiles and high tens for McGrath and Australia, who are sensing that the end is nigh. 92.5 to Giles, edged - and gone. That one, on a decent length, squares Giles up a treat and the outside edge flies straight to Warne at first slip; such chances don't come much more straightforward. Giles, like a simpering lover who can't accept he's been dumped, lingers longingly at the crease, but indeed he has been dismissed and he trudges slowly off 346/8

98.2 to Hoggard, the two-card trick. One short, and the next full, outside off stump and Hoggard drives with no discernible foot movement and Warne takes a regulation catch at first slip. Click here for the picture 361/9

100.1 to Harmison, it's over. Slightly short, Harmison hooks but off the top edge and straight down the throat of McGrath at long leg. The Australians rush to embrace each other in a celebratory huddle as the England batsmen troop off. 370/10

13.2 to Bell, Bell gets well forward, the ball hit him on the front pad and a confident appeal gets the finger from Steve Bucknor. Bell looks unhappy - a bit more than disappointment - as that could have been sliding down the leg side. It matters not a jot, he's out and England are slipping towards a day off tomorrow. Agony for Collingwood, skipping miles down the pitch and trying to smack Warne over his head to reach a hundred. Warne banged it in short, Flintoff tried to pull it, and miscued it to Langer at long-off who didn't need to move a muscle, apart from those lifting his hands up to his face.
