Harris building up to Queensland comeback

The fast bowler Ryan Harris will take the next step in his return from knee surgery next week when he takes the field in the first Futures League match of the season. Harris has been out of action since July but is hoping to be considered for the one-day portion of Australia's tour of India in October.

He made his initial comeback on the weekend, when he took 1 for 15 from nine overs in the opening round of Brisbane's grade cricket competition. Harris is expected to play for his club again on Sunday before taking his place for the Queensland Academy of Sport against the Victorian Second XI next Tuesday.

"It's feeling okay so all going well, I will be able to build my bowling workload this week and next week to lead into the Bulls' first games against Tassie," Harris said. The domestic season begins with a one-dayer on October 6 between Queensland and Tasmania at the Gabba, followed by a Sheffield Shield match between the same teams two days later.

Those games will be Harris' primary chance to prove his fitness to Australia's selectors before the three-match ODI series in India. Peter Siddle could also be in the mix for the one-day squad after showing positive signs for Victoria at the Champions League in South Africa following six months off with back stress fractures.
