John Davison, the former Canada captain, will lead Australia's side at the Hong Kong Sixes tournament next month. Davison, 38, will act as playing coach of an otherwise young squad to take part in the event on November 8-9.

A former first-class cricketer with Victoria and South Australia, Davison was eligible to play for Canada in one-day internationals having been born in British Columbia. Davison has not officially retired from Canada but has spent most of this year coaching at Australia's Centre of Excellence.

He will be captaining a group that includes two members of last year's squad, Steve O'Keefe, the New South Wales spinning allrounder, and the Queensland batsman Nathan Reardon. Tasmania's fast bowler Brendan Drew is the most experienced member of the pace attack.

The tournament will once again feature an All-Star team which this year will include Justin Langer, Stephen Fleming, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Matthew Hoggard. Last year the All-Stars, which boasted Shane Warne in their line-up, reached the final only to lose to Sri Lanka.

Squad John Davison (capt), Michael Hill, Nathan Reardon, David Warner, Steve O'Keefe, John Hastings, Brendan Drew.
