India are sending their academy side to the Emerging Players Tournament for the first time in four years of the competition. Karnataka were India's previous representatives, winning in the first year. The National Academy side will play the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) as well as teams from New Zealand and two-time champions South Africa in Twenty20 and 50-over matches.

AIS team coach, Brian McFadyen, would be delighted to help the side to their first success. "We have a great list of scholarship holders this year," said McFadyen, "and I'm really looking forward to seeing them develop in the lead up to this tournament."

The competition kicks off on Monday 14 July with two Twenty20s at Redland. The first, between South Africa and India, begins at 9.30am before AIS take on New Zealand.
