A left-handed batsman, Ben Rohrer was a late addition to the New South Wales side for their second-last Pura Cup match of 2006-07. Things started badly; he survived a hat-trick ball from Ben Hilfenhaus but made only 5 as Tasmania skittled the Blues for 53, their lowest Pura Cup score. But in the second innings Rohrer stood firm and his 163 made him the first man since Rodney Davison in 1993-94 to collect a century on first-class debut for New South Wales. He faced the Tigers again in the final and scored 30 in the second innings - only Simon Katich made more - as New South Wales conceded the title to Tasmania. Rohrer's encouraging start earned him a Blues contract for 2007-08, but he was unable to gain any playing time. There were more opportunities the following summer and his highlight was a brutal 44 not out off 20 balls that took the Blues to the Twenty20 trophy in the final against Victoria. He also appeared in five first-class games, scoring a century on the way to 322 runs at 46. In 2009-10 he scored a Shield hundred and also made useful contributions in the FR Cup.
