Profile

Lea Hansen is a quick left arm bowler who plays with the Queanbeyan club in the ACTCA grade competition. Hansen has found form in Canberra after moving to the nation's capital from country Victoria. He was born in Kerang, which is located near the border with New South Wales. He moved to Canberra in time for the 1997/98 season in order to play a better level of cricket and in his words it was time for a change. He performed well in his first season of ACT grade cricket and was rewarded with selection in the Comets squad for the 1998/99 season. From there he went from strength to strength, taking wickets in all Mercantile Mutual Cup matches and being named as the Canberra Comets Player of the Season in addition to winning the Canberra Comets bowling award. His selection in the Australian A side to play India A in Los Angeles in September 1999 came as a surprise. Hansen impressed despite limited opportunities and he will be a vital component of the Canberra Comets pace quartet in the 1999/2000 season. In the 1996/97 season, Hansen played for the Victorian Country side at the Australian Country Championships which were held in Toowoomba. (Adam Morehouse, November 1999)
