Profile

A big-hitting right-handed batsman from the Bankstown club in Sydney, Goszko carved her name into women's cricket history in June 2001 when she scored 204 on Test debut for Australia against England at Shenley Park - equalling the world record for the highest individual Test score. Goszko was an outstanding prospect for New South Wales at junior level as an all-rounder, and took 6/9 on her NSW Under-21 debut as a seventeen year-old in 1994-95.

It was as a batsman, however, that she rose to prominence, her open-age debut for NSW in 1995-96 being followed with a place in the Australian Under-23 side on their New Zealand tour late that season. Her full international debut in the 1997-98 Rose Bowl series against NZ was followed by a berth in Australia's victorious World Cup campaign in India, where she scored 37 in the final.

She lost her place in the first eleven during the 1998 tour of England, and some creditable performances during the Irish leg of that tour were her last for Australia until this year. She continued to perform strongly for New South Wales, and was named player of the year in the Sydney grade competition in 2000-01 after scoring 512 runs at 128.00 and taking 14 wickets at 9.71. Her recall to the Australian squad for the 2001 tour of England and Ireland in place of the veteran Zoe Goss was seen as an investment in the future - but reaped immediate dividends on the field at Shenley.
