A tall and enthusiastic paceman with an unusual background for a first class cricketer, Brendan Creevey is a Brisbane-based fast bowler and capable lower order batsman. Like many around him during recent years, Creevey's opportunities have been limited by the strength of the competition for spots in Queensland's first eleven. But the fact that he has rarely failed for grade team Sandgate-Redcliffe, or indeed for the Bulls in the intermittent appearances he has made at interstate level since making his debut in 1996-97, has meant that he has never been far away from establishing a more permanent presence. Strangely, he had merely played indoor cricket competitively - none outdoors - until the age of 19 and it was only when a teammate suggested that he try his hand with Sandgate-Redcliffe's then injury-ravaged second eleven that his sharp change in cricketing direction began to take its course. From his 6'5" height, Creevey extracts good pace and disconcerting bounce. He also seams the ball effectively and maintains excellent accuracy. The combination of a correct technique and a capacity to hit out in controlled fashion renders him similarly effective with the bat and he has featured in many useful partnerships late in Mercantile Mutual Cup matches for Queensland.
