A serviceable all-rounder, Jason Bakker has played several handy games for Victoria without ever really hitting the headlines. He has lived in the shadow of Ian Harvey for much of his State career, and most of his opportunities to play domestic cricket have come when Harvey has been summoned to international duty. Nevertheless, he is a talented player. He is an economical medium pace bowler whose accuracy and slinging style compels batsmen to play him with respect. Notwithstanding the fact that he often plays in a defensive mould, he is also a capable and correct batsman. Within local cricketing circles, Bakker is well regarded not only for his natural ability but also for his unassuming leadership of club team Geelong and his work as a media relations officer for the Victorian Cricket Association.
