At 6 foot 7, Cameron Gannon is a tall fast bowler who gains good bounce and swings the new ball. A fringe member of Queensland after making his Sheffield Shield debut in 2010-11, he had a breakout 2012-13 season with 31 wickets at 23.51.

He fought back from being found to have an illegal action and he finally became a regular for Queensland in 2019-2020, where he was the Shield's leading wicket-taker with 38 at 20.92 before being lured to Western Australia. But Gannon struggled to replicate that success and was overtaken in the pecking order by younger quicks.

He only played five matches across WA's back-to-back Shield triumphs in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and he was 12th man in both finals. But Gannon was a key performer in WA's push for a third straight home Shield final after taking 20 wickets at 23.1 in the 2023-24 home-and-away season.

The holder of an American passport, through his mother's side of the family, Gannon played four T20Is for the United States in 2019. He won the domestic player of the tournament in Major League Cricket's inaugural season in 2023 to help Seattle Orcas reach the final.
